Website URL Submissions - do's and dont's
So, you've published your fancy new website on the web for the world to see, but can they actually find it?
URL stands for 'Uniform Resource Locator' and simply put is your website address i.e. http://www.myweb.com.
One of the first steps to getting your website indexed on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing and the like is to submit your URL to them. If you are unsure, check with your web developer (or us) that this has been done.
One thing you can do yourself to optimise your website is to submit your URL to as many online business directories as possible, especially those that are specific to your industry. Just Google your industry name i.e. 'health' and 'submit URL' and you should be taken to the directory pages to complete the submission form. Beware: avoid those that ask you to pay for your submission and always use different keywords and descriptions, as Google negates paid for listings/advertisements and ignores duplicate content!
